  • Are you ready for summer? 4 things you should be doing now to get in shape for summer.

    If you want a bikini body by this summer, it's time to start now! Use these 4 tips to get a jump start on that hot beach body you want; and, avoid last minute panic and crash diets. 

    1.) Up your herbal tea consumption

    During the winter months your water intake drops significantly due to not being as thirsty. One great way to increase your water intake on those cold winter days and staying hydrated is to drink Herbal Tea. Besides hydration there are numerous health benefits from drinking herbal tea too.  A study from the University of Illinois at Chicago found that just consuming three cups of herbal tea a day can help lower cholesterol and blood pressure, as well as reducing your chance of cancer by 37%.

    2.) Train (even when there is snow or rain)

    Yes, it's cold outside - yet that doesn't mean sacrifice your hard work during the summer and abandon your training regimen.  We can't control the weather, and the weather isn't gonna just change for our workout. So we have to find ways to maintain our summer habits. One great way of doing that is to sign up at a local gym for a few months during the winter season, so you can still get a run in no matter what the weather is like.  You also might meet some new fitness friends at the gym to motivate you even more; and, just picture yourself on the beach with that awesome body you created in the winter hanging out with friends. 

    3.) Look for the sun and get your Vitamin D

    Have you ever heard of (SADs)? You may have never heard of it, yet many of us have felt the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SADs) during the winter's cold gloomy dark days. Many of us go to work before the sun comes up, and headed back home once the sun has set, which causes us to not get enough Vitamin D from the natural sun light. Lack of Vitamin D leads to depression, increased eating, lower energy levels, excessive sleep, and all of these can lead to the feared weight gain. To fight (SADs) make sure you take a good Vitamin D supplement and try to get at least 20 minutes of direct sun light everyday...to boost that mood!

    4.) Positive over negative mind set

    You are gonna have many mental barriers and challenges in life; and, to reap the benefits of a beach body you are gonna have to think positive and rise above the negative. You can say negative things to yourself like " It's so cold out", or "I don't think I can do this".  Or you can replace the negative thoughts with positive ones, like "Hey, last time it was cold out, yet I warmed right up after a few minutes. Or "I can do this, and I can't wait to show off my body at the beach this summer."
